The Gods of Nemmerle

The Gods of Nemmerle are old. Some have even become all but forgotten, spoken of only in whispers. Others are seen as sole patrons of entire kingdoms. Man has carved out a tenuous existence in this world, with dwarves and elves and halflings keeping to their own homes and evil creatures dominating the wild and the eastern lands. Civilization has given rise to large churches dedicated to a few gods, while other gods enjoy a smaller following.

Among men of the west, Pelor and Heironeous are principally worshipped. Early kingdoms regarded Pelor as their patron, primary among them Celedon. As the Celedon Empire spread throughout the world, so too the worship of Pelor. With the fall of Celedon, kingdoms introduced their own gods. Today Pelor is still the principal god of Celedon, Darmidia, and Mythens. Heironeous is worshipped primarily in Treviland, Plenios, and Tirudor, with some influence in Erigoth where inter-religious feuding goes on today between the Churches of Pelor and Heironeous.

Less refined areas have influences of Pelor and Heironeous, but these are not their primary religions. Norgarde and its sister kingdom of Hyderis worship Moradin, a religion they share with the dwarves. Kyre, with its barbaric peoples and woodland interior, worships Obad-Hai and Ehlonna as friends of nature. Kyre's neighbor Kazeldun entertains Hextor, god of strife, after all their years of war with the east.

In the east, Erythnul is centrally worshipped in Hrolith while Gruumsh is worshipped in Cierath. The witches of Suramir worship Boccob. And Hextor's worship extends north of Kazeldun into Ongolk as well. Lastly, the elves of Adulien worship Corellon Larethian.

Other gods, such as Garl Glittergold, Yondalla, Fharlanghn, Olidammara, Saint Cuthbert, Wee Jas, and Vecna are worshipped by their respective races or in isolated pockets throughout the world.
