501st Legion History : 2001

Sins of the Jedi

One day the Detention Block 2551 website received an intriguing message: would the 501st Squad be interested in helping with a Star Wars fan film in Wilmington, NC? My answer was an immediate ‘yes!’ and soon I was contacted by one of our 501st members, David Finleyson out of nearby Spartanburg, SC. We met up at my house, met face-to-face for the first time, and set off on a road trip that would take us to the production studios in Wilmington where they just wrapped up production on Black Knight starring Martin Lawrence. There we met another 501st candidate, Scott Black TK201. Over the course of the weekend the crew used the old Black Knight castle set to film action scenes featuring a Jedi on the run and his young apprentice. It was a lot of fun being around professional stunt coordinators and production crew. Sadly, the film was shelved due to conflicts but these shots give you a sense of just how good the raw material was. Who knows? Perhaps one day the footage will see the light of day.
